Metro station Novokrestovskaya will be opened by March, 2018
TBM Nadezhda, which is currently working at the double-track tunnel for the Nevsko-Vasileostrovskaya metro line in Saint Petersburg, reached Basil Island.
Krestovsky Island – the new football arena
The TBM Nadezhda started its work at the beginning of 2016 from the crossing of the streets Optikov and Turistskaya at the North of Saint Petersburg towards Basil Island and the existing station Primorskaya. For now 4,000 meters of total 5,200 meters of the tunnel length are completed. The route of the tunnel passes two water sections and the Western part of Krestovsky Island. The new Novokrestovskaya station especially constructed for the World Cup 2018 will be situated near the football arena here.
The current speed of the TBM now is about 15 meters per day, while it works in the favourable geological conditions – Cambrian clays. The dismantling pit is situated at 500 meters from the station Primorskaya. The details of the TBM will be carried out through the pit of the Novokrestovskaya station.
TBM Nadezhda completed the double-track tunnel at the Novokrestovskaya station on January 19, 2017
The rest of the tunnel will be constructed in the traditional for Saint Petersburg metro way – there will be two 5.6 meters diameter separate tunnels. One of them has been built and another will be completed by September, 2017.
The engineering works are being performed at the double-track section. The lining of the tunnel has been dismantled by 60% for the further construction of the main structures of the future metro station Ulitsa Savushkina.
Metro station Ulitsa Savushkina construction
The main structures at the station Novokrestovskaya have been completed recently and now the station’s internal partitions are being installed. There are more than 500 spaces designed inside for different purposes. First decoration works are being performed and the construction of the platform is on the way.
This project is being implemented for the Committee of the Transport Infrastructure Development as part of the transport infrastructure preparation work for the World Cup 2018. The contract has the construction period as 2.5 years. The project supposes 4 years for its implementation. Thanks to technical solutions of OAO Metrostroy employees and optimization of the construction and installing process, the section between stations Primorskaya and Ulitsa Savushkina will be completed by March 2018.
